If you love to dine out on a regular basis, then you might just want to consider being a little more cautious in the future, after reading about this new study. This is because a team of researchers have now found that eating out may end up boosting the amount of phthalates in your body, which are chemicals known for disrupting the hormonal balance in the human body. "This study suggests food prepared at home is less likely to contain high levels of phthalates, chemicals linked to fertility problems, pregnancy complications, and other health issues," says Ami Zota, ScD, MS, an assistant professor of environmental and occupational health at George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health. "Our findings suggest that dining out may be an important and previously under-recognized source of exposure to phthalates for the U.S. population." |
