Hvar   The hills, the beaches, the many wineries and lively nightlife make it one of the best places to spend in the chain of islands on the coast of Croatia. Walking on the streets of this enchanted island will allow you to see the fortifications of the ancient medieval walls and understand its importance in the history of Croatia. In addition, there are two walking paths in the city of Hvar, which are recommended to enjoy during a stay here, and of course, you can't forget to visit the local market. 2. Veliki Brijun     If you've already reached the shores of Croatia, this next island is definitely worth a visit, though it is only accessible by ferry. There are no private vehicles on the island, and transportation is carried out by electric train, on foot or by bicycles, which can be rented in different areas. Local residents conduct an English tour of the island during which you will visit the museum that documents the life of Josip Broz Tito, commander of the partisan army against the Nazis, and you will also be able to see ancient sites and various animals. Korčula     The island of Korčula is a magnificent and beautiful place, which holds the title of the sixth largest island in the Adriatic Sea. Dugi Otok     Dugi Otok is the largest island of the northern Dalmatian islands, which is also blessed with a lovely beach and cliffs, from which one can view the surroundings. Vis      Vis is the farthest island from the Croatian mainland, which was closed to visitors until the end of 1980. The island has a fascinating historical past, which played an important role in World War II. There are some interesting things to see on the island the cave where Josip Broz Tito hid during the anti-Nazi revolt, the archeological museum and the spectacular play "The Blue Grotto," which is on a nearby island. During the summer months, the grotto can be entered and there you can witness the sun's rays reflecting on the ocean and turning the cave blue. 9. Pag     On the island of Pag, you will find a long and attractive stretch of sand filled with coves and beautiful beaches. Most of the island is covered in rugged terrain but in the valleys, there are areas with green fields which the residents use to help dry up the common local product - olives. Cres     Cres is a wild island with mountainous terrain and is one of the biggest islands in the Adriatic Sea. Brač     Brac Island is one of the most famous islands in Croatia, and its beaches are shown on many pictures and souvenirs from the country.
