All Ferraris are special, but there are some models that are so special that Ferrari has to deem you worthy of owning one, as well as ensuring that you meet a range of pre-conditions prior to being allowed to get your hands on the car you want. Here are five special-edition Ferraris that will grab the attention of any gearhead: Value: $3.5 million During the 1950s, Enzo Ferrari was more well-known for racing Alfa Romeos than building cars, but he had already started producing beautiful road cars, one of which was the Ferrari 250. The example that you see above is one of just four original cars that had custom-designed bodywork created by Vignale, an Italian coachbuilder. It's powered by a V12 engine, and features an enormous glass window at the rear, giving the Vignale a fastback look. These cars change hands at $3 million when they (very rarely) come up for sale. Value: $3 million Named after the legendary founder of Ferrari himself, Enzo Ferrari, the Enzo broke cover back in 2003. A 6.5-liter V12 lurks underneath its glass engine bay, and the model is full of Formula 1 technology, from a carbon fiber body, to composite brakes and an F1-style sequential transmission. In addition, Ferrari wouldn't just let you have one if you had the money. You needed be an owner of one its F40 or F50 models before you were eligible to be invited to buy one. There are just 400 Enzos in the whole world, and a few have inevitably bitten the dust since the car was launched some 15 years ago. |
