Ellora Caves Paintings and Sculptures Damaged by Rainwater The ancient Ellora caves in Aurangabad city, India were constructed between the fifth and tenth centuries AD by Hindu, Buddhist and Jain monks. Now the sculptures and famous paintings in the caves are starting to lose their gleam, due to rainwater seepage.
