When I was working in a war torn country, I came across the Governor of a State, who was illiterate. He could not read or write even his mother tongue since he had not gone to school. He was a watchman in a school and was elevated to the post of Governor as reward for saving the life of a high dignitary. It was said about him that when documents were brought to him for his thumb impression by his deputy, he used to tell his deputy that his mother would die a miserable death if he was made to put his thumb impression on any wrong document.
I was reminded of this Governor, when I saw in today's news that the qualification of one of the newly sworn in cabinet ministers is 5th pass. Let us hope the best for the country
