We have all heard about super foods and their benefits but 

there are foods that can have devastating effects on brain functioning. 

It's advisable to consume them moderately in order to limit their harmful impact.

 Here are six such foods that can actually lower your intelligence!

1. Sugar

Sugar and sugary food material are bad not only because they make you gain 

weight but also harm brain functioning as well. Excess intake of sugar can create 

neurological problems, and it can also hamper with your memory. Sugar can also 

interfere with your ability to learn, which is why it is advisable to avoid pre-baked goods,

 sugar, corn syrup and products that are high in fructose.

2. Processed foods

Almost all processed food contains chemicals, dyes, artificial flavours and

 preservatives and this can affect the cognitive functioning of the brain.

3. Sodium

We all know that salty food affects your blood pressure and is not good for

 the heart. According to research, a high amount of salt can damage the cognitive 

functioning of the brain and can lower your ability to think.

4. Artificial sweeteners

People who are calorie conscious mostly replace sugar with artificial 

sweeteners. But artificial sweeteners actually do more harm to your

 brain especially if you consume high amount of it everyday.

5. Tofu

According to many recent researches Tofu can heighten the risk of dementia. 

6. Alcohol

Alcohol can wreak havoc on your brain by restricting the blood flow. It affects 

the function of neurotransmitters by tightening the tiny blood vessels that 

play a major role when it comes to brain function.
