[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ FASTING THIS NAVRATRI

Navratri occurs twice a year when the season is on the verge of change.

This is also the time when our immunity is quite low and it is advisable to eat

light and healthy food. Their are a few rules to observe the nine day fast - like

abstaining from non-veg food, alcohol, grains, common salt and anything that is

processed. One also needs to avoid onion and garlic while fasting as these are

known to generate heat in the body while grains are difficult to digest. Here are

few quick tips to make the most of these nine days to detox your mind, body and soul.

1. Keep yourself hydrated.

It is good to have water a little more than what your intake would be on

regular days. Just load up on fluids like lassi, curd and fresh fresh fruit juices.

Since non-veg is off the menu, milk makes up for your protein intake and

is also a complete meal.

2. Keep snacking.

Not eating for long hours can lead to acidity and can also affect your

metabolism. It is advisable to have some healthy munchies handy like roasted

makhanas (Fox nut) or dry fruits for mid-meal snacks. Small and

frequent meals should be the rule.

3. Say 'Yes' to curd.

Yogurt or raita has a soothing effect on the stomach and also helps to cool down the body.

Do add a bowl to each meal; you can have it fruits as well.

4. Stick to natural sugar and salt only.

You can make yourself a delicious fruit salad with a dash of rock salt to curb those cravings.

Fructose the natural sugar in fruits can actually help you fuel your metabolism. Rock salt also

known as sendha namak is an unprocessed and pure form of salt, rich in potassium and helps in better digestion.

5. Stay away from fried food.

As much as we love to munch on those fried sabudana vadas and namkeen,

they don't spell good news. It is better to have steamed or grilled food to keep that fat away from you.

6. Skipping meals is not a very healthy idea.

Their is no need to starve yourself or skip your meals.

Don't give up on your favourite foods rather find healthy substitutes.

Also make sure that you get all the nutrients that your body requires.
