[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ TWO RARE TEMPLES

A  COUPLE OF  RARE  TEMPLES  OFF  CHENNAI CITY:

On  18th March, 2014, we  visited the Vada Thiruvarangam, an ancient temple of Lord Ranganatha, on his   five hooded Adhiseshan bed. What is specilal about this  1000+ year old ancient temple is  the presiding deity is larer than Lord Ranganatha of Sri Rangam  being 18 ft long., the biggest Ranganathar.

Secondly, He is made of only salagramam stone which is a rare feature of this temple.  He  has as His head rest, a huge  measure known in olden days as ''Marakkaal''  in tamil, used to measure paddy.  The village where He is resting is Devadhanam,  a few kilometers  off  Ponneri, with access from roads across the railway track from Ponneri, Anuppampattu RS  etc.,

The temple is situated at a peaceful, quiet village environment with not  many visitors  because  of  lack of transportation facilities.  It  appear  no regular bus or  share vehicle is available preventing many devotees from visiting and having dharshan of Lord Ranganathan who probably does not wish to be disturbed when He is resting amidst various green fields ( which too fast  fading out due to many LAY OUTS springing up!)

The huge Ranganathar is eyefull and a feast to both the heart and mind of the devotee who is  not pushed out  because there is no one to demand special ticket fee  or  push you out of the sannidhi  ordering  ' jaragandi, jaragandi'' and you can stand for hours before Him, just  3 ft away with no conditions and remain engrossed with Him as long as you like/

See  the  pictures of the temple below.

The next to visit was the temple of Kari Krishna Perumal at Thiru Aaipaadi,  a couple of km  away from Ponneri town.  The temple belongs to Karikaal Chozha period having been built by him. Hence it bears the name of Kari Krishnaperumal temple.  The presiding deity Lod Krtishna is in standing poisture here leaning to His right.  There is no peetam  under His feet. He  emerged from a huge  anthill, which is still available in the temple.  See the picture below of the anthill from where Lord Krishna emerged as a Swayambu in this temple.   Another special feature of this 1000+year old temple is  the godesses  Sridevi and Bhoodevi are  seen to His left only unlike in other temples on either side of Him.

The rare idol of Lord Lakshmana with folded hands worshipping Lord Rama, unlike with a bow in his hand can be seen in this temple as Uthsava Vigraha.  See the picture below.

The sculptures of this ancient temple is a feast to the eye.  A few pictures below would reveal it to you.

If you find time dont miss visiting  these temples a couple of hours away from the hustle and bustle of Chennai city.
