[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ How To Remain Happy

1. Throw out nonessential numbers.
This includes age, weight, and height.

Let the doctors worry about them.. That is why you pay them.

2. Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.

(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever.
Never let the brain get idle.
'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with him or her!

6. The tears happen:

Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourself.
LIVE while you are alive.

7 Surround yourself with what you love:

Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.
Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health:

If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips.
Take a trip to the mall, even to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

And if you don't send this to at least four people - who cares?

But do share this with someone.

USED vs LOVED ( But I would headline it as "What Anger Does!!!" )

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up a stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father…..with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’

The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions….. .sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches;

The child had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.

The next day that man committed suicide. . .

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life & remember this:

Things are to be used and people are to be loved.

The problem in today’s world is that people are used while things are loved.

Let’s try always to keep this thought in mind:

Things are to be used,  People are to be loved.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character;

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

I’m glad a friend forwarded this to me as a reminder..

I hope you have a good day no matter what problems you may face it’s the only day you’ll have before it’s over.

With the best of regards

Your pal
TONY CHACKO

[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ Story: Make the Right Effort

by Ahmed.

This is the story of the giant ship engine that failed. The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a youngster. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom.

Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man searched into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. & instantly, the engine lurched into life & got started.

He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed! A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for £10,000.

“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!”
So they wrote the old man a note saying “Please send us an itemised bill.”
The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer …..£2.00
Knowing where to hammer..£9,998.00

Total £10,000

Moral of The Story:
Effort itself is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life,
‘Makes all the difference’.  So often we see people striving, working and making effort tirelessly, often for years only for them to later on realise that they were all misplaced and how they wish they had spent the time and effort on something more fruitful.  This reminds me of a quote I once read a long time ago:

“My worry for you is not that you fail to succeed, but that you succeed in the wrong thing.”

An example that spring to mind which I have heard from our scholars is that people strive to do a lot of good a’maal but fail to refrain from committing sins, and they explained this point by using the example of a petrol tank with a hole in the bottom, we keep on filling it with petrol, little realising our loss of fuel from the hole in the tank.

May Allah give us the ability to reflect, learn and act on the above.

If you like someone, show it. It will be sweeter then telling :)

But if you don't like someone. Just tell it. It will be less painful then showing it.

Get Inspired......... Hats Off To This Lady

From 50 paise, she now earns Rs 200,000 a day.
She started her career 31 years ago as an
entrepreneur, selling eateries from a mobile cart on
the Marina beach amidst all odds -- battling a
failed marriage, coping with her husband, a multiple
addict, and taking care of two kids.
Today, she has overcome the hurdles and owns a
chain of restaurants.

She married against the will of her parents.
Unfortunately, the marriage failed but her parents
never forgave her and she was on her own along
with 2 children.

" I knew I should either succumb to the burden or
fight; I decided to fight my lonely battle." she said.
She started selling pickles, squashes and jams she
made at home.

Eventually she started her own cart on Marine
Drive, Mumbai.

On the first she just sold one cup of
coffee, making 50 paise the first day.

But she never
lost hope and earned as high as 25,000 rs a day.
One day the Slum Clearance Board gave her an
offer to run the canteen at their office with a proper
kitchen.

The chairman met her during her morning
walk.

It was a huge success. Thereafter, she never
looked back.

She suffered the second shock of her life in 2004
when she lost her daughter and son-in-law in a
road accident.

The ambulance refused to carry their
dead bodies.

Finally, somebody carried all the dead
bodies in the boot of a car.

She couldn't bear the
scene and broke down.

That is when she decided
to keep an ambulance on that very spot to help
people whether the victims are alive or dead.

It is in memory of her daughter.

Today Patricia along with her son runs the chain of
restaurant 'Sandeepha' in her daughter's memory
and around 200 people work under her.

She was awarded 'Ficci entrepreneur of the year' in 2010.

[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ Story of Ravana & Aathma Lingam

Subject:  Story of Ravana & Aathma Lingam

Story of Ravana & Aathma Lingam

Ravana, the king of Lanka was an asura, but he was an ardent devotee of Lord Siva. He reached mount Kailas & prayed to Lord Siva, that his Lanka should never be destroyed. Lord Siva gave him an Aathma Lingam, with the condition that he should go back on foot to Lanka & that he should not put down the Lingam at any point. If he were to put the Lingam down, the Lingam would remain rooted at that spot.

The Devas were worried that the Aathma Lingam would add to the might of Ravana & that he could never be destroyed, if he succeeded in taking the Aathma Lingam to Lanka. They prayed to Lord Ganesha for help. Lord Ganesha caused Ravana's stomach to be filled with water. Ravana grew desperate to answer nature's call. Ganesha appeared before Ravana as a small boy. Ravana handed over the Aathma Lingam to the boy. Ganesha declared that he could not wait for long & when he grew tired, he would call out Ravana's name thrice & if he did not come & take the Lingam, he would place it on the ground & go away. Ravana agreed.

Soon Ganesha called out Ravana's name thrice, and since Ravana could not come and take the Lingam, he placed it on the ground. The enraged Ravana tried to remove the Lingam from the ground. But, in spite of using his twenty hands, he could not budge the Lingam. Though the Lingam could not be moved, the pressure from Ravana's hands had changed its shape like the ear of a cow & hence the place came to be called Gokarnam (Go-cow, karnam-ear). The lingam came to be called Mahabaleswarar since it could not even be shifted by the mighty Ravana (maha-great, balam-power, Eswarar-Lord Siva).

Ravana started chasing the boy to hit him on his head. Lord Ganesha showed his true form & blessed him. The Ganesha statue in the temple has a hollow on the head, where Ravana is supposed to have strcuk him (Kuttu - to hit with folded fists). Lord Ganesha can be pleased by doing kuttu (gently tapping both temples with folded fists).
