[ ::: ♥Keep_Mailing♥ ::: ]™ RAMPUR - DID YOU KNOW?

We counted 32 Rampurs across India... and that's when we weren't even

counting the smaller villages! And there were at least 4 in Nepal, Myanmar and Indonesia!

Rampur in Uttar Pradesh is the best-known in India. Made popular by

Gabbar Singh of Sholay, this Rampur with its huge havelis and the legacy of

'Rampuri chakus' is the most popular choice among all others. The destination is

also known today for parkour, as well as kabaddi and kushti. It is also the only Rampur

with a railway station (RMU). The lesser-known Rampur is at Varanasi and

was the seat of the king, whose fort still stands by the river.

Rampur in Rajasthan falls in Alwar district, one of the two Rampurs in Bihar is

in Gaya, Andhra Pradesh and Telengana have four Rampurs between

themselves while Gujarat alone has three.

The north-east also has a fair share of Rampurs with one each in Meghalaya (Mainatand),

Mizoram (Haialakandi), Assam (Kamrup), East Sikkim, Arunachal and Manipur.

Rampur in Uttar Pradesh has a Manipur in its fold as well!

There are two villages by the name of Rampur in Haryana alone, while Punjab has one.

The Rampur near Shimla is known as the seat of a snake-god, while the Rampur of

Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, lies in the region that gave us three Bharat Ratna Awardees

and is close to the Janjira Fort, the strongest marine fort of India.

Does that mean Rampur is the most popular destination name in the world?

Or the most-difficult to locate through GPS?
