Companies That Control Everything You Buy

 


There are ten corporations that control the output of everything you buy; it could be either a household product, pet food or your jeans. 



Recently Reddit released a chart called "The Illusion of Choice" in which some of the biggest corporations are created by 10 super companies.



Here is a list of those 10 companies that control almost everything that we buy.

 

 

 

 

 



1. Nestle



Nestlé is a Swiss Multinational Food and Beverage Company headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland.  Nestlé deals with products related to baby food, bottled water, breakfast cereals, coffee, confectionery, dairy products, ice cream, pet foods and snacks.



Apart from that, Nescafé, Nestea, Sunrise, KitKat and Maggi are few of Nestlé's products that are widely marketed in India.



However, Nestlé has many international competitors, such as PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, Unilever and Mars to name a few.

 
 
 

2. Coca-Cola



Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink that is sold in stores, restaurants, and vending machines all across the world. It is produced by The Coca-Cola company of Atlanta, Georgia, and is often referred to simply as Coke.



The Coca-Cola company has also introduced other cola drinks under the brand name 'Coke'. Most common of these are Diet Coke, Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and special versions with lemon, lime or coffee.



3. P&G



Procter & Gamble, commonly known as P&G, is an American consumer goods company headquartered in Ohio, United States. The company manufactures products like pet foods, cleaning agents, and personal care products.



The company was listed under "Global Top Companies for Leaders" in Fortune magazine and was also ranked 15th on the "World's Most Admired Companies".

 

 

4. Pepsico



New York based PepsiCo has food division that offers a wide variety of products such as Aliva, Cheetos, Kurkure, Lay's, Lehar Namkeen, Quaker Oats and Uncle Chipps. PepsiCo's iconic refreshment beverages include Pepsi, 7UP, Nimbooz, Mirinda, Slice and Mountain Dew. While it's other popular products are Aquafina (packaged drinking water) and Tropicana fruit juice.



Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi has been severing as the chief executive of PepsiCo since 2006.



5. KRAFT



Kraft Foods Group is an American grocery manufacturing and processing company that is headquartered in Chicago. The company was established in 2012 by John Cahill and Tony Vernon.  Hiten Raja



The company's core businesses are in beverage, cheese, dairy foods, snack foods, and convenience foods. Apart from these, Kraft is also an official partner with Major League Soccer and sponsors the Kraft Nabisco Championship. From 2010-12 the company also made an effort to sponsor Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, a post-season college football bowl game.

 

 

 

6. Johnson & Johnson



It is an international pharmaceutical and consumer goods company that was founded in 1886. Johnson & Johnson is a well known brand across the world for its numerous household and medicinal items. Among them, band-aid has been the most successful product for many years.



The company is well known for its other products like Neutrogena skin and beauty products, Clean & Clear facial wash and Acuvue contact lenses.

7. Unilever



Unilever is an Anglo–Dutch multinational consumer goods company that was founded in 1930. It is one of the largest companies in terms of revenue.



The company owns more than 400 brands under its name. Unilever’s products range from food, beverage, cleaning agents to personal care products.



Unilever's current largest-selling brands include: Aviance; Axe/Lynx; Ben & Jerry's; Dove; Flora/Becel; Heartbrand; Hellmann's; Knorr; Lipton; Lux/Radox; Omo/Surf; Rexona/Sure; Sunsilk; Toni & Guy; TRESemmé; Magnum and VO5.

 

 

 

8. Kelloggs



The Kellogg Company is a multinational food manufacturing company that is responsible for producing cereal and convenience foods, including cookies, crackers, toaster pastries, cereal bars, fruit-flavored snacks, frozen waffles, and vegetarian foods. The company's brands include Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Special K, Cocoa Krispies, Keebler, Pringles, Pop-Tarts, Kashi, Cheez-It, Eggo, Nutri-Grain and many more. Kellogg's stated purpose is "Nourishing families so they can flourish and thrive."



9. MARS



MARS is an American global manufacturer of confectionery, pet food, and other food products. The company is recognized as the third largest privately held company in the United States by Forbes.



Mars main focus is on manufacturing Chocolates, Petcare, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Drinks and Symbioscience.  Hiten Raja



10. General Mills



General Mills is an American food manufacturing company. The company markets well-known brands, such as Betty Crocker, Yoplait, Colombo, Totino's, Jeno's, Pillsbury, Green Giant, Old El Paso, Häagen-Dazs, Cheerios, Trix, and Lucky Charms.
