15 Photos of ATM Scams! If there are two things we want to ensure remain in safe hands, they're most definitely our credit card and our bank details. For this reason, it's important to be aware of any 'traps' that we may encounter when trying to withdraw money, be it in our hometown, or while we travel. Take note of some of the most common ways thieves will try to steal your credit card details.   Always wiggle the card reader to make sure that it is not a fake.     Here's an example of a fake ATM - the headphone socket is sunk in and off alignment.     Someone frequented an ATM they use often and noticed something different. What is this gray box?     A hidden camera was installed in this ATM.     Cracks underneath the receipt slot indicate that this ATM is a fake.     This ATM had a false keypad and card reader installed.     If the card slot appears to be sticking out, know that it's a fake.     A pinhole camera was installed into this ATM.     In this example, the panel under the screen came off, where it was discovered that it contained a camera. The green part in the picture was over the card slot in order to scan your credit card.      An example of a cash trap device.     Take notice of the button colors. Have they changed?     This ATM transmits stolen data via text message.     Both a card reader and a camera where attached to this ATM.     A loop was attached to this ATM in Lebanon which prevents your card from being returned prior to completing your transaction.      Another example of a fake ATM.
