11 Unconventional Indian Superheroes that you might not have heard about


Though superheroes might just be a figment of imagination, but they are an indelible and inseparable part of the popular culture all over the world, then how can India be any different, we all might have heard about the like of Nagraj, Dhruva and Doga but there are others that you might not have come across, so we went into the darkest alleys of the internet and dug out these precious jewels for you.

Bheriya
Bheriya is the prince of a mythical kingdom called Wolfano, while his mother was human, his father was the king of a primordial werewolf clan. Later in the series Bheriya was separated from his human half by the Wolfano witch doctor guru the werewolf part was named Kobi and the human part came to be known as Bheriya.

Aruna from DC Comics
Appeared for the first time in Batgirl Annual and possesses the ability to shape shift and her alter-ego is a circus stunts woman.

Anthony
Anthony was a global rockstar who was killed by his competitors but nature gave him the chance to rise once again but he could only rise from his grave at night. His powers include teleporting, super-strength and ability to spit ‘Hell’s Cold Fire’! Cool right ?

Bhokal is a legendary warrior prince from a fairyland (you read it right), he’s winged, he’s ripped, he’s got a badass sword and a shield that can make you fly and his sword spits fire.

Chakra, the Invincible made by Stan Lee

Stan Lee’s contribution to India’s comic culture, Chakra attained his powers with the help of a scientist who has created a slick technology suit which enables the wearer to activate all his Chakras and hence enabling him to whoop the enemy’s ass.

Karima Shapandar (Omega Sentinel)
Featuring in the X-Men series Karima is a police officer from India who was transformed into an Omega Prime Sentinel which were designed to destroy mutants but while facing Charles Xavier is a battle, he disabled her programming and enabled her mind again.

An Indian Cyborg to be precise, his brain was placed inside a mechanical body to save his life and he’s been saving the day ever since.

Maya from Justice League International
Maya can control fire and water and shoot mystical projectiles, born in India, she has helped the JLI to fight and defeat many villains.

Drawing powers from his suit provided by his scientist uncle he is capable of shooting atomic rays, teleporting and shrinking himself.

Another mutant of the Indian origin, he was an ally of Karima Shapandar, possessed with superhuman capabilities.

Pavitra Prabhakar, Indian Spider- Man
Yes, Marvel tried to come up with an Indian version of Spiderman and his name was phonetic distortion of Peter Parker, Marvel just came out with just 4 issues of the comics and I might not need to tell you why.
