10. James Woods

 
 


18th April, 1947 born James Howard Woods is a renowned television, film and stage personality in Hollywood. Though his on-screen stint doesn't fully express his intelligence, his solid IQ of 180 backed by his math skills that saw him study college level linear algebra when he was still in high school, plus his perfect score of 800 in his verbal and almost perfect 799 in Math in his SAT exam, makes him quite deserving to garner the number 10 spot.

 
 
 


9. Marilyn vos Savant



11th August, 1946 born, vos Savant, a famous magazine columnist of German and Italian roots, rose to fame when she was listing in the prestigious Guinness Book of World Records under "Highest IQ" category. With an astounding IQ of 190, this genius was recorded to have the highest IQ by Guinness before the category retired in 1990.



Through "Ask Marilyn", which is a Sunday column published by Parade Magazine, vos Savant has reached out to several readers and has solved numerous puzzles and questions sent by them.      



8. Kenneth Ferrell



Kenneth Ferrell, the North Carolina native who happens to be a doctor is next on the list. This pleasant faced man is blessed with an IQ of 190 and keeps his mind sharp by participating in organizations like the GenerIQ Society and The Order if Imhotep. In his spare time, this genius doctor likes to participate in IQ tests and challenge himself to come up with the correct answer every time.

 
 
 
 
 
 


7. Garry Kasparov



With an IQ of 190, Garry Kasparov, the Russian grandmaster who holds the record for the longest reign as number one, is slotted at the seventh position. In the year 1985, this genius reached the pinnacle of glory by becoming the youngest world champion, dethroning the then champion Anatoly Karpov, at a tender age of 22. He continued to rule the world of chess and was recognized as the official world champion by the international chess federation for 8 continues years, until a dispute between him and the federation forced him to renounce his crown and form a rival Professionals Chess Association.



In the year 1997, he lost a chess match to a computer named 'Deep Blue'. This defeat was his first at the hands of computer under standard time controls.

 

 

 

 

 


6. Mislav Predavec


 


Mislav Predavec, the founder and president of GenerIQ Society, which is an elite association of some of the most intellectual minds on the planet, is next on our List. This multitalented genius who also happens to be a math professor, as well as the owner and director of a trade company based in Zagreb, Croatia, is blessed with an IQ of 192.


 


In his free time, this genius loves to hear rock music, particularly by Pink Floyd, and enjoys the art works of Leonardo da Vinci.  


 


5. Rick Rosner


 


Though this rough and tough looking guy doesn't have any extraordinary achievement against his name, with an IQ of 192, he is definitely one of the smartest beings on the earth. Yes, his resume is filled with experience of working as a bar bouncer, stripper and a nude model, but his story doesn't end there. He has also used his brainpowers to make it big on the television game show called "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" and is currently spending nearly 20 hours a day competing in several IQ exams in a bid to reach greater heights.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


4. Dr. Evangelos Katsioulis


 


With an IQ of 198, Dr. Evangelos Katsioulis, a psychiatrist from the birthplace of democracy, Greece, is slotted at the fourth position. Degrees in three separate fields, namely, philosophy, medical research technology and psychopharmacology, are the clear illustrations of the competence of this genius.


 


Unlike other brainy comrades in this list, this whiz kid from Hellenic Republic is known to spend his free time exploring the world, swimming or painting a masterpiece.           


 


3. Kim Ung Yong


 


Kim Ung Yong, the wiz kind from South Korea is next on our list. With a mindboggling IQ of 210, this genius has a tremendous gift in both numbers and languages. His brainpowers were so extraordinary that he started speaking when he was just six months old and by the time he was three, Yong was able to read several languages such as Korean, German, English and Japanese, as well as solve complex calculus problems.


 


When he was eight years old, NASA invited him to study in the U.S and by the time he was in his teens, he was employed by them. After a few years, he decided to return to his homeland and become a civil engineer. `

 

 

 

 

 

 


2. Christopher Hirata


 


With an IQ of 225, this pleasant faced guy occupies the penultimate position on the list. As a child prodigy, Christopher Hirata made headlines by bagging a gold medal at the international physics Olympiad when he was just 13. The following year, he joined Caltech and earned a PhD from Princeton when he was 22. He is currently assisting NASA, in its bid to colonize Mars.


 


1. Terrence Tao


 


 We have definitely saved the best for last. With an IQ of 230, this math genius deservingly has garnered the top honors in the list. This young mathematician with Australian and American roots is a champion at the random matrix theory and other things that we mortals struggle to understand.


 


If you think that math is tough, just take a look at the subjects that Tao has mastered, which includes the likes of partial differential equations, analytic number theory, harmonic analysis, additive combinatorics, ergodic, random matrix theory and Ramsey theory. 


 


Tao is a mathematics chair at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his PhD from Princeton when he was just 20 and by 24 he was a full professor at UCLA.
